Vaccinations are one of the greatest inventions ever created and have saved millions of lives from diseases and death. If one looks throughout history—especially in our own time—there have been diseases that have attacked and have taken lives. Back in 1900, the influenza virus became a pandemic that is believed to have killed 25 million people within the first 25 weeks of its appearance. Vaccinations have saved and will keep on saving lives in the future from numerous and diverse illnesses. People used to wait in line to get these vaccinations ad beg for them. Now some are rejecting them when they have become safer and more convenient to come by. There is a growing rate of people denying these vaccinations and leaving themselves vulnerable and also the communities around them. When we reject these vaccinations, not only do we risk our health but also the health of people around us who are either vaccinated or not. The reason why there is a growing rate of people not receiving vaccinations is because of rumors that the vaccines are not safe or have harmful products or effects. These statements are false and scientists have done studies to show the safety and reputation of these vaccines. The CDC, WHO, VAERS, and many other government health departments recommend getting vaccinations so that one can be protected and protect others from preventable diseases.
